Reykjavík Sketcher
sharing the world around me one sketch at a time
Meet the Artist: Sonia Nicolson-Guðrúnarson
Architect, Educator & Urban Sketcher
As an architect with a love for hand drawing, sketching has always been my way of seeing the world. When I moved from Scotland to Reykjavík in 2016, I began capturing the city’s buildings and streets, one sketch at a time.
What started as a personal hobby or habit soon turned into something more. I shared my drawings online, and my feed became a digital sketchbook - part exhibition, part story. Soon, people began asking to buy prints, commission drawings, and shared the stories behind the homes I’d sketched.
The name Reykjavík Sketcher was born one evening as I waited downtown for my husband, Ingimar. I began sketching the houses around me and never really stopped.
